I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Environmental Computational Science and Earth Observation Laboratory at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

I am interested in disentangling the driving mechanisms of ecological and environmental systems to monitor their functioning and maximize global wellbeing in a changing world.

I implement an interdisciplinary approach, which uses mathematical modeling tools (process-based and deep learning) to address key research questions in ecology, agriculture and epidemiology. To do so, I have experience in combining lab and field data with novel data streams, such as citizen science observations. Ultimately, my research provides useful insights to improve
disease control, conservation strategies, food security and climate change resilience.

...We cannot understand [the universe] if we do not first learn the language and grasp the symbols in which it is written. The book is written in mathematical language, without whose help... one wanders in vain through a dark labyrinth.
Galileo Galilei, Il Saggiatore (1624)
